Young Writers’ Markets

If you are a young writer of fiction or poetry, here are some excellent places to submit your work The updated lists are divided into teen markets and children’s markets (with a bit of overlap).

Online and Print Magazines for Teen Writers:

The Blue Marble publishes poetry, prose and art from writers aged 13-20.

Canvas is a literary journal that publishes prose and poetry by writers aged 13-18.


Sadly, Cicada Magazine closed in August 2018.


claremontThe Claremont Review features poetry, stories, plays and art by writers aged 13-19.


Hanging Loose Press publishes a magazine and books by high school students.


New Moon Girls publishes fiction, articles and artwork by women and girls aged 8 and up.


Sadly, The Noisy Island has closed its doors (but you can still read all of its past poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction online).


Sadly, the Parallel Ink domain expired in October 2018, so it looks like it’s closed, too.


Polyphony Lit.is a gorgeous literary magazine that publishes poems, stories and essays by high school students.


Skipping Stones is a multicultural literary magazine that publishes work by writers of all ages.



YARN –the Young Adult Review Network — publishes work for young adults by writers of any age.
